AAA PCL Champions Reno Aces vs Sacramento Rivercats Game 2

After a 3-1 victory in game 1 the Reno Aces look to take game 2 from the Rivercats and take this series back to Reno needing 1 more win. There would be one problem with that plan, that problem would be 160 LBS and stand 6′ 2″ tall and have and have an ERA of 1.80, his name….

Jesse David Chavez

Jesse David Chavez born in Victorville California brought the goods tonight and was perfect for 5 2/3 innings throwing a shutout for 8 innings retiring the first 17 batters he faced  with 10 strike outs!

Wladimir Sutil Reno Aces SS

The Reno Aces wouldnt get a hit until Wladimir Sutil would get a hit in the 6th, followed by a single by AJ Pollock  but the Aces would stall out and leave them stranded. The biggest chance the Aces had to score was in the 7th when Mike Jacobs would lead off with a double, Brent Cllevlen would move him to 3rd on a ground ball but that would be the closest to scoring the Aces would come. On the mound tonight for the Reno Aces was BIG Daniel Cabrera who pitched the best 4 innings he could have pitched throwing 96 pitches, 58 for strikes in a pitching showdown where 1 pitch would decide the outcome of the game. In the 3rd inning Cabrera would throw a 3-2 pitch to Jemile Weeks that he would hit out of the park. The Reno Aces pitching staff has absolutley shut down the Rivercats in 2 straight games, the Relivers combined for 4 hitless innings and gave the Aces a shot to come back to win the game late but just couldnt pull it off. Mike Jacobs said after the game “Chavez just threw a good game, he worked so quick, used all his pitches well and kept the ball down the zone” thats the perfect recipe for a pitcher. Jensen Lewis a Aces Set up man said “gotta tip your hat to Chavez he threw a great game”. The Aces pack their bags and invite the Rivercats to Reno to finish the best of 5 Series with game 3 starting at 7PM tomorrow night with Aces crafty RHP Charles Brewer 11-7, 5.99 ERA vs RHP Travis Banwart 9-5, 3.85 ERA.

Note: The Aces have been Hampered by call ups late in the season loosing 2 of the best pitchers they had in Patrick Corbin and Tyler Skaggs. The Aces recently took their biggest hit loosing the PCL Rookie of the year and PCL MVP Adam Eaton their lead off man who was batting .381 and earned the PCL Batting title.other players taken from the Aces are the red hot Konrad Schmidt, Tyler Graham, Jake Elmore and Ryan Wheeler. The Aces are not nearly the team they were at mid season but the depth they have in this organization is what has held them together. one guy gets called up and another steps into the spot light and produces. The Rivercats do not have the pitching depth the Aces have and should be able to score some runs at home to help out their starters.

AA Mobile Baybears Vs Montgomery Biscuits

Another Diamondbacks Farm team in the playoffs makes their 1st game vs the Biscuits a close game but pull it off for the win. The Biscuits would jump out to a lead in the top of the 3rd with a run on 2 hits but that lead would not last long as the Baybears would strike back. In the bottom of the 3rd Mobile would get things going with a lead off Single by Rossmel Perez,David Nick would follow that up with a double to Left field. Ollie Linton would record a 3rd streight hit for a RBI single. Even Frey would make it 4 straight with a RBI single and Chris Owings.

Chris Owings

2 innings later in the 5th the Biscuits would add a run on some small ball but just when they think they are gaining on Mobile, the Baybears answer with 2 more runs. The Biscuits would never catch the Baybears and would loose this game 5-3. David Nick would lead the way for Mobile going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 doubles on the day as Nick and Ollie Linton both bat 1000 and carry the Baybears to victory. Chase Anderson records his 1st win of the season for Mobile  going 5 innings giving up just 2 runs on 8 hits. Matt Buschmann gets the loss for Montgomery.

Game 2 at 8:05 PM ET

The Missoula Osprey  beat the Billings Mustangs 8-5 to make the 3rd Diamondbacks affiliate in the playoffs. They will take on Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League championships today at 7:15PM.
